According to UFO Magazine, “There is no official word yet, but there is a chance that UFO Hunters may be canceled and not return for season 4.” In response to concerns of cancellation, UFO Hunters fans have been signing an online petition to urge the History Channel to keep the show. The fans do not want UFO Hunters to end up in the same ‘black hole’ where other popular thought-provoking programs have met an untimely death.
The reason for possible termination of the show is not clear. The show’s star, Bill Birnes, said:
UFO Hunters had some of the top-rated episodes in the history of the History Channel.
Is there a sinister element behind the possible cancellation? The MISSING TIMES: News Media Complicity in the UFO Cover-up, a book by Terry Hansen, reveals disturbing facts about the U.S. government’s influence in the media regarding UFOs. It is well known that for decades the CIA has extensively controlled what the media has said about UFOs and extraterrestrial beings visiting Earth.
The Central Intelligence Agency owns everyone of any significance in the major media." - William Colby (1920-1996), former Director of the CIA,
It is obviously not a lack of interest in UFOs that would cause the History Channel to cancel UFO Hunters. The topic remains hot in both the mainstream and independent news media. Just this week, one of the biggest news stories was “Russian Scientist: UFO collided with Tunguska Meteorite to save Earth”. Many people would think such an event was historically important, especially since it allegedly happened over 100 years ago.
Also this week, Rick Barber, a popular late night talk show host at 850 KOA radio in metro Denver, Colorado, posted a poll about extraterrestrial beings. He asked:
“Do you think there is other intelligent life in the universe?”
The optional answers were:
Yes. I have not only seen aliens, I'm an abductee.
Yes. It seems logical. If not, it's a waste of space.
Yes. I have seen a UFO.
Yes. They're out there but I doubt they have visited us.
No. It seems like science fiction to me.
Definitely not! God made man the only intelligent life around.
Results? As of this writing, over 92% of respondents have voted for one of the “Yes” categories. Barber’s poll is likely to get most of its votes from his audience of paranormal and UFO enthusiasts. But the results are similar to scientific and news media polls taken for decades from the general population. The number of believers in UFOs has only increased over the years.
Maybe the History Channel executives are not oriented to seeing farther into the future than yesterday. Or maybe they are cooking up something better and keeping it secret for now. But if you think that UFO Hunters is worth saving, you can still sign the online petition. And while you’re at it, vote in the Rick Barber poll and see the breakdown of some surprising results.
One year ago today, a press conference held by the EXTRA Campaign to create an Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission through a Denver ballot initiative, resulted in a world-wide media sensation by showing the Stan Romanek "alien-in-the-window" video. The ballot initiative is expected to go before Denver voters in the coming year. When that happens, the History Channel would be smart to have a familiar show on hand to meet public demand for more information on the issue.
